Goseong City spoke out about Risenne's Won-i dialect controversy.
Goseong City released a statement on the 11th through its official social account regarding Won-i's "museobno" expression.
Goseong City said, "Risenne member Won-i has been steadily promoting her hometown Goseong by introducing the savory Goseong dialect and everyday Goseong scenery on the YouTube channel "안녕하세요원이입니다잘부탁드립니다," and her modest and sincere appearance has won much love."
It added, "The expression is a dialect and colloquial expression commonly used in the Gyeongnam region, and it is not appropriate to interpret it as an expression with a specific political intent, which is Goseong City's position."
Goseong City said, "Healthy criticism and diverse opinions should be respected. However, indiscriminate spread of unverified information and excessive criticism can cause unnecessary harm to the parties involved, so we ask for your cooperation to help establish a mature communication culture that considers one another."
The controversy over Won-i's "museobno," who was appointed as a promotional ambassador and is from Goseong, began when a producer at a Gyeongnam regional broadcaster raised the issue on a social account. Since then, a wearying debate has continued as questions arose in political circles about the practice of adding "no" to interrogative sentences.
Meanwhile, Risenne earlier drew attention with gyaru-concept content on Won-i's personal YouTube channel "안녕하세요원이입니다잘부탁드립니다," and in particular the line "Goseong yaho" from the video has spread like a trend on social media and short-form platforms, attracting much public interest.
