EXID member and actress Ahn Heeyeon meets viewers with a work that will warm a corner of the heart.
The KBS2 new weekend drama Love On The Menu, which premieres on the 25th (written by Lee Kyung-hee, directed by Hong Seok-gu), is a family recipe drama about two men and women who gather the fragments of a broken family to set the warmest table in the world, starring Ha Seok-jin, Ahn Heeyeon, Park Yu-na, Baek Jeong-nam, Min Jin-woong, Lee Joo-yeon, Jung Bo-min, Kwon Hae-hyo, Yoon Yoo-seon and others.
Appearing in her first weekend drama as Han Gyurim, Ahn Heeyeon said, "Because weekend dramas are watched by the whole family, I was excited but also very nervous and felt a strong sense of responsibility."
Ahn Heeyeon said, "Han Gyurim's life is not easy, but she does not go the route of hating the world. She has been hurt a lot, endured a lot, and carried too many responsibilities, but she survives somehow, protects her people and knows how to smile again, and that remained with me for a long time," explaining why she decided to appear.
Especially, Ahn Heeyeon said, "Han Gyurim did not suddenly become a strong person one day; from a very young age she was responsible for her family and had no choice but to become that way. I prepared thinking it would be good if the face of a mother and the face of a daughter who still needs a mother could exist together," adding, "Because her life felt so overwhelming, the more she loved Moo-jin, the more afraid she must have been," and said she tried to fully understand Gyurim's heart.
Ahn Heeyeon cited "resilience," "love" and "strength" as character keywords, then said, "Although there must have been many moments when she wanted to give up, she lives through each day steadfastly and protects her family," and explained, "She lies and runs away at times, but there is always love inside. That was heartbreaking because it was her best way to protect someone. Even so, I felt her strong ability to smile and be kind was admirable."
Returning to acting after three years, Ahn Heeyeon said, "I think Love On The Menu is our story of trying to love and live again even if we are not perfect and have been hurt a lot. I hope it will be a warm drama that families can watch comfortably together. Please give it lots of interest and love."
