"Feel the thrill of Yubona-style retribution."
Actress Kong Hyojin returns to MBC after 15 years, drawing attention with MBC's new Friday-Saturday drama A Bona fide Killer (planned by Kwon Seong-chang, written by Kim Eun-hee, directed by Yoon Jong-ho and Kim Ji-hun, produced by Bon Factory, Baram Pictures, Studio PIM), which is set to premiere on the 31st.
Meeting viewers as Kingfisher Yubona, the legendary sniper who punishes ordinary married women who are vicious criminals, Kong Hyojin said, "I read the webtoon first and found it interesting. It's a dark hero story, but what I found most attractive was that the drama is driven more by the ordinary daily life of a married woman than by the events."
Kong Hyojin said, "Yubona the married woman is always kind and always wearing a smile, but Yubona the killer is prepared as a Yubona unlike anything I've shown in dramas before, showing an unemotional steadiness that does not waver at any moment."
Especially, Kong Hyojin said, "Yubona responds flexibly in any situation. I also have a flexibility honed by my profession as an actor, and those parts connect with each other," adding, "The setting of putting the victim's safety aside and acting on behalf of crime victims rather than speaking is powerful. When you sometimes see unbelievable crime news, hasn't everyone once thought about stepping in themselves? I hope you feel that kind of vicarious satisfaction watching A Bona fide Killer."
Describing A Bona fide Killer as a distinctive female dark hero story, Kong Hyojin said, "I hope many people feel the thrill of 'Yubona-style retribution' toward the real loves and the incidents we encountered in the news, not just a simple romance."
Meanwhile, A Bona fide Killer is a drama that depicts the struggle of a working mom with the most brutal job in the world as she fights to preserve work-life balance.
