So Jisub, Choi Dae-hoon and Yoon Kyung-ho of Manager Kim, who easily surpassed the "cursed 20%," revealed their dazzling past "prime years" visuals.
SBS's Friday-Saturday drama Manager Kim (writer Nam Dae-joong, directors Lee Seung-young and Lee So-eun, planned by Studio S, produced by Studio S and Fantagio) surprised fans on the 10th (today) ahead of episode 5 with a still showing the three members of the "dad universe" sparring and displaying lively chemistry in an "moving-day three shot."
Manager Kim's momentum is truly unstoppable. In just four episodes the show posted a nationwide rating of 21.6% and a peak instantaneous rating of 25.1%. Its global box-office power is overwhelming as well. It rose to No. 1 globally in Netflix's non-English shows category, ranked top in 11 countries and entered the top 10 in 79 countries, sweeping first place in TV-OTT dramas and cast buzz.
On episode 4, the desperate run of the "dad universe," who risked their lives to find daughter Min-ji, raised tension to its peak. The mood flips 180 degrees in episode 5 airing today (the 10th). In the released still, the three are in their younger days at a happy moving scene where laughter never stopped. So Jisub shows the textbook example of a steady pillar who quietly holds the center then and now, Choi Dae-hoon transforms into an amusing taekwondo instructor who bursts into nagging and serves as the comic relief, and Yoon Kyung-ho's display as the moving ace boasting extraordinary strength adds to the viewing fun.
Especially striking is the fresh, homely visual from the past without glasses, contrasting with their current solemn "dads with glasses" look. Their bickering yet close moving-day photos hint at the depth of their solid friendship. As they currently explode with lawless middle-aged paternal love, bloodied and risking their lives to find the daughter, curiosity grows about how their warm past will affect future developments.
So Jisub, Choi Dae-hoon and Yoon Kyung-ho reportedly heated the set with exceptional chemistry even before filming. Once the camera rolled, the three actors brought their characters to life with fierce immersion. So Jisub letting out a small smile watching his grumbling friends, Choi Dae-hoon getting scolded after talking a big game, and Yoon Kyung-ho hoisting a heavy load—their textured everyday acting made the set a sea of laughter.
The production team of Manager Kim said, "This scene is an important passage that shows the special bond they built even before they became the current 'dads with glasses,'" and added, "Please look forward to how their past backstory will expand in episodes 5 and 6 airing today and how it will connect to the current revenge plot." It airs today (the 10th) at 9:50 p.m.
