Broadcaster Ro Hong-chul received shocking treatment in the United Kingdom.
On the 9th, a video titled "Ro Hong-chul received shocking treatment at a U.K. hotel (no air conditioning, assigned to the basement)" was posted on the YouTube channel Ro Hong-chul.
That day Ro Hong-chul described what happened during his trip to the U.K. He said, "It wasn't an expensive room, but I booked a room that's generally considered okay," and recalled, "it felt old. The room was compact, and the bathroom was compact."
He joked, "This is 300,000 won. London's prices are (shocking)," and later Ro Hong-chul said, "I learned after coming back to Korea that Europe experienced an unprecedented heat wave."
While traveling in temperatures exceeding 37 degrees, Ro Hong-chul checked the air conditioner first when he entered the room. However, it did not work at all, he said, and he was startled.
Ro Hong-chul said he went down to the desk to explain the situation, and an engineer told him it was the engineer's day off and asked if he could use a fan. When he asked for a refund, he said that was not possible either, which surprised listeners.
When Ro Hong-chul responded firmly, the desk staff finally told him to wait a moment, then reversed their earlier statement that there were no rooms and informed him there was a basement room.
Ro Hong-chul wondered, "Is it a room where the air conditioner doesn't work, or a room without windows and without air conditioning?" and after deliberating said, "Because it was for one night, I stayed in the basement room," which evoked sympathy.
He concluded by saying, "Including breakfast, you're paying 370,000 or 380,000 won to sleep in a basement room? I was surprised too, but when I slept, I didn't need blackout curtains, so I slept very deeply," noting that everything has its light and dark sides. <
