With director Jang Hang-jun, who became a 10-million-attendance director with the film The King's Warden, challenging the role of main MC on the variety show Time Tracker Sherlock, expectations are rising for the birth of another grand historical drama.
On the 14th, SBS Plus's new variety show Time Tracker Sherlock (abbreviated as Sherlock) will premiere. Sherlock is a history-tracking variety show that fills the blanks left by records, digging into the stories hidden behind a line of record, and will offer reversals and fresh shocks that make us look at the history we thought we knew in a new light.
Among them, Jang Hang-jun takes the main MC role. Recently, director Jang Hang-jun, whose film The King's Warden (abbreviated as The King's Warden) drew a cumulative audience of about 16.90 million, comforted not only movie fans but the entire nation by triggering a Danjong syndrome.
In The King's Warden, he used imagination to unfold the story beyond the records of the ill-fated king Danjong and his protector Eom Hong-do, earning public praise. Expectations are gathering that he will trace even more varied gaps in history on Sherlock.
Director Jang Hang-jun said, "It seems a history craze is blowing. Isn't there a saying that 'a nation that forgets its history has no future'? When you look into history, even if the times are different, there are stories of people living their lives in it. History seems to have an important meaning in understanding today," expressing his thoughts on joining Sherlock.
He also said, "I approach it as if studying, drawing lines on the script. If there are parts I'm curious about, I search and look them up, and as the main MC I prepare thoroughly," stating his resolve as the main MC through Sherlock.
Above all, he said, "Just as The King's Warden started from just a few lines in the Annals of the Joseon Dynasty, Sherlock has many good items. What remains in my memory is the Joseon Tongsinsa. I didn't know that such tremendous stories were hidden in the Joseon Tongsinsa that I had seen as a single line in history books," raising expectations for his next work.
The production team of Sherlock said, "For us, the main MC is from start to finish unquestionably director Jang Hang-jun. He is the one and only storyteller who can best bring to life the 'historical behind-the-scenes stories' that Time Tracker Sherlock pursues. As his main profession is film director and writer, he has an outstanding sense for pinpointing points that will interest the public. They added, "Not only does he know a lot of historical years and facts, but he is also really excellent at switching perspectives when looking at events.
