Broadcaster Ro Hong-chul received shocking treatment in the United Kingdom.
On the 9th, the YouTube channel 'Ro Hong-chul' posted a video titled 'The shocking treatment Ro Hong-chul received at a UK hotel (no air conditioning, assigned a basement)'.
That day Ro Hong-chul recalled his recent trip to the U.K. with the production team. He said, "I booked accommodation. 'Now that I'm living alone, let's get a decent room,' so I booked a room that wasn't expensive but generally considered decent."
He continued, "It felt a bit old. The room was compact, and the bathroom was compact," adding, "This is 300,000 won. London's prices are shocking."
But the problem didn't end there. Ro Hong-chul explained, "When I came back to Korea I learned that Europe was experiencing an unprecedented heat wave. You have to choose accommodation carefully. Many places don't have air conditioning. Many are legally without it, and many haven't installed it because installation costs are high."
When Ro Hong-chul arrived at the room he first checked the air conditioner, but it didn't work. Ro Hong-chul recalled, "I went down to the desk and explained the situation, and the engineer said today was his day off and asked if I could use a fan. When I asked for a refund, they said that wasn't possible either."
When Ro Hong-chul kept insisting on a refund, the desk clerk eventually persuaded him by saying there was a basement room and asking if he would go there, saying it was slightly larger than the originally booked room.
Ro Hong-chul wondered, "Is it a room where the air conditioner doesn't work, or a room without windows and without air conditioning?" and decided, "It's just for one day, so I stayed in the basement. Paying 370,000 or 380,000 won including breakfast to sleep in a basement? I was embarrassed, but when I slept there I didn't need blackout curtains and slept deeply," showing his characteristic positive side by saying everything has pros and cons and drawing attention. <
