The girl group KATSEYE's shining growth story unfolds on movie screens worldwide.
HYBE-Geffen Records announced on the 8th (local time) the release of a special documentary film chronicling KATSEYE's great journey, KATSEYE: WILD HEARTS. The film will begin simultaneous release in theaters worldwide on Aug. 12, and detailed information about countries and theaters will be disclosed sequentially at a later date.
KATSEYE: WILD HEARTS is the group's first theatrical documentary, arriving as KATSEYE prepares to release their third mini album (EP) WILD, and it follows the group as they meet global fans. It densely follows the dramatic growth process from the days of The Debut: Dream Academy, when ordinary girls clashed fiercely to become KATSEYE, to standing at the center of the world stage. It also captures the special bond and love with their ever-supportive fandom, the EYEKONS.
In particular, the film includes never-before-seen behind-the-scenes footage that has not been released anywhere until now, videos sent directly by fans around the world, and candid interviews with the members, offering a more three-dimensional view of KATSEYE's story. Audiences will vividly witness the pressures and challenges, joys and disappointments, and moments of sacrifice and breakthrough the group faced as they leapt to become a global pop group.
Interscope Films and Boardwalk Pictures, which drew a strong response by depicting KATSEYE's origin in the Netflix series Popstar Academy, have reunited with HYBE-Geffen Records, and director Nadia Hallgren, who was nominated for four Emmy Awards for Michelle Obama's Netflix documentary Becoming, directed the film to raise its quality.
The poster unveiled with the release announcement shows KATSEYE members gathered snugly on a cozy bedroom bed, staring at the camera. Even within the friendly, natural atmosphere of the girls, their gazes emit the intense aura of pop stars, capturing attention. In particular, the phrase at the top of the poster, A Love Letter to the EYEKONS, fully reveals their heartfelt affection for fans.
Based on the K-pop methodology led by chairman Bang Si-hyuk and a global localization strategy, KATSEYE, who stepped into the music scene in 2024, rose to prominence as a group attracting worldwide attention by sweeping the stages of major global music festivals and awards such as Lollapalooza and Coachella in less than two years since their debut.
In fact, in May they achieved a feat of winning three awards, including New Artist of the Year, at the 2026 American Music Awards, one of the three major U.S. popular music awards. In addition, the North America and Europe tour THE WILDWORLD Tour, which opens in September, demonstrated formidable global ticket power by selling out all dates within just 48 hours of ticket sales opening.
KATSEYE will release their third mini album, WILD, on Aug. 14, immediately after the documentary's release.<
