The story of Ha Seok-jin, who gave up everything for love, and Ahn Heeyeon, who gave up love for her family, unfolds.
The new KBS 2TV weekend drama Love On The Menu, which premieres at 8 p.m. on the 25th (directed by Hong Seok-gu, written by Lee Kyung-hee), is a family recipe drama about two men and women who gather the fragments of a broken family to set the warmest table in the world.
The comprehensive teaser video released on the 9th raised expectations by portraying everything from the first meeting of Kim Mu-jin (Ha Seok-jin) and Han Gyu-rim (Ahn Heeyeon) to their intertwined fates.
The video begins with Jang Seo-hyun (Lee Joo-yeon)'s sharp question, "What is Han Gyu-rim? Is she that great?" It then hints at the two people's fateful connection as scenes alternate between Han Gyu-rim rushing without hesitation to help Park Soo-nam (Kang Ae-shim), who collapsed at a bus stop, and Kim Mu-jin watching her.
Chance soon becomes fate. Working part-time at the same place, Kim Mu-jin and Han Gyu-rim grow closer little by little, and Park Jung-woo (Min Jin-woong) conveys Han Gyu-rim's charm on her behalf, saying, "She's kind but cute and pretty — can you believe that?"
Meanwhile, Kim Mu-jin amuses with clumsy charm as he confesses, "I live well. No, not just living well — should I blow it all and reveal I'm a chaebol?" Contrary to his chaebol background, his awkward, pure devotion in love reveals a surprising charm to the character.
With the arrival of Jo Heung-sik (Bae Jung-nam), who evokes a subtle jealousy, Kim Mu-jin boldly confesses his feelings, asking, "Do you treat everyone that well and kindly? Can't you treat only me well?" His straight-forward romance toward Han Gyu-rim begins in earnest, doubling the excitement.
But Han Gyu-rim's reality is harsh. Working various part-time jobs to make ends meet, she pushes love away, saying, "Right now I'm someone who doesn't have the time, the leisure, or the heart for something called dating." Then come stories surrounding the family that hint at the weight she bears in life: Han Gyu-young (Park Yoo-na) kissing a mysterious man, Han Gyu-oh (Bae Yoon-kyu) visiting a police station, Han Seok-jung (Ryu Seung-soo) injured, and Go Yoon-hee (Yoon Yoo-sun) wearing a troubled expression.
Still, Kim Mu-jin's heart does not waver. To Han Gyu-rim, who wants to distance herself for practical reasons, he sincerely raises the temperature of the romance with lines like, "Instead, Gyu-rim, just keep getting butterflies over me," and "I don't mind if it's not noticed, and it's even better if it is."
But another trial comes to the two. A rift begins to form in their relationship after Kim Mu-jin's construction site accident and the appearance of his sister Kim Yoon-jin (Mi-ram). In the end, Han Gyu-rim swallows her tears and pushes Kim Mu-jin away coldly, saying, "If you don't want to be stuck in the same mess with me, then run away now."
However, Kim Mu-jin gently asks the wounded Han Gyu-rim, "May I hold you once, Gyu-rim?" and finally completes a touching ending by warmly embracing her.
