On the 9th at 10:50 p.m., EBS's anniversary special "The last humans" humorously unpacks the closed-ecosystem principle that "nothing is wasted" through an unexpected crisis: a broken toilet.
The only toilet inside the perfectly sealed experimental base suddenly breaks down, and the seven final humans face an unprecedented survival crisis. In a situation where even excrement must be returned as part of the ecosystem cycle, the crew struggles to build an improvised toilet with limited resources. A special surprise gift, the "round-trip ticket to Mars," arrives after a tearful battle, promising an unpredictable development that shifts between laughter and tension, ecology and space science.
The crew in crisis asks questions in the AI room to find clues to the solution. There they learn a surprising fact: about 30 years ago, the past crew of Biosphere 2 perfectly composted excrement and used it as resources for crop cultivation and base maintenance.
In a perfectly closed ecosystem, nothing can simply be thrown away. Even what humans excrete must return to the soil, plants and ecosystem for the base to be maintained. Based on the information obtained in the AI room, the crew begins full-scale toilet construction, searching the experimental base and collecting discarded materials to build a resource-recycling toilet.
Yoo Seungho, VV, and Jang Hongje find items such as gas masks, ice cream scoops, sawdust and activated carbon to turn excrement into compost. When Yoo Seungho kindly puts on gloves for Lee Eunji, who was about to clean up the excrement, Lee Eunji surprises the team with the question "Is it possible to have an office romance in the dome?" prompting laughter from the team members.
Starting from the most uncomfortable and smelly crisis, this mission is expected to most directly show how important "circulation" is as a survival condition in a closed ecosystem.
Meanwhile, Yoo Seungho, who has been showing a different side in current affairs and educational programs, will resume acting after three years by appearing in SBS's new Fri-Sat drama "Flex x Cop" season 2, which premieres on Aug. 8. Playing the new chaebol character Yoo Seongwon, Yoo Seungho shed his veil in a recently released teaser trailer, overwhelming the atmosphere with his presence alone. With many fans awaiting Yoo Seungho's new transformation, curiosity rose about his future activities.
