"entertainment industry's representative tough guy" actor Choi Min Soo (64)'s heartwarming anecdote has been revealed belatedly, giving the public a warm impression. His true character, caring first for the youngest staff member at the lowest position on set, is being reexamined.
A netizen, identified as Mr./Ms. A, who said they once worked as a camera director on a variety show, recently revealed on social media an anecdote about their past experiences with Choi Min Soo on a filming set. And this spread on online communities, drawing attention.
Mr./Ms. A recalled that they were preparing to film at Choi Min Soo's home at the time and said, "I went early in the morning and was setting up the camera when Choi Min Soo asked me if I had eaten. I answered without much thought, 'I haven't eaten,' and that became the spark of a huge incident," they began.
According to Mr./Ms. A, Choi Min Soo's expression immediately turned cold and he called the main producer. Choi Min Soo shouted at the producer, "Didn't I tell you to feed all the staff before making them work? Are you sitting there eating a sandwich by yourself?" and strongly scolded the production team for not taking care of the staff's welfare.
It did not end there. Choi Min Soo immediately called the youngest staff member, Mr./Ms. A, to his dining table. Mr./Ms. A said, "When I sat at the table, my meal was laid out along with the meal for Choi Min Soo. He said filming would absolutely not proceed until I finished eating," they recounted.
For Mr./Ms. A, who was the youngest staff member at the time, it was an emotional and nerve-wracking moment. Mr./Ms. A said, "With nearly 30 senior staff members watching, how could I swallow my food properly? Feeling self-conscious, I tried to eat quickly and get up, but Choi Min Soo held me and said, 'Eat slowly to match my pace.' I was really grateful but also felt truly pressured," they confessed honestly, drawing laughter.
Mr./Ms. A said, "I had heard rumors that he usually takes good care of the youngest staff, but experiencing it firsthand felt completely different," and expressed deep respect for Choi Min Soo, saying, "Seeing a senior at the highest position on set take such careful care of the lowest-ranking staff was truly admirable. It made me vow that I want to be that kind of person someday."
As this anecdote spread, another netizen, Mr./Ms. B, added their own story in the comments. Mr./Ms. B said, "I met actor Choi Min Soo during a past filming of 'Running Man,' and when I was stiff, he warmly told me, 'You should come play in the pool with us,' which helped ease my tension," testifying to Choi Min Soo's consistently tsundere side.<
