Actor Go Youn-jung teams up with Lee Byung-hun in the film "Nambul."
On the 7th, the film "Nambul" (director Im Mo-gae, produced by 하이브미디어코프) announced Go Youn-jung's casting.
"Nambul" is a hard-boiled KITA action film set in early Joseon in which nine warriors of varying abilities and ranks head to Tsushima Island to rescue prisoners abducted by Japanese pirates. Previously, actor Lee Byung-hun's joining as the leader of the warriors, Im Eok, had raised expectations. Go Youn-jung's casting has now been added.
Go Youn-jung will play the role of Aeryeong. Aeryeong is a character who loses her family in a raid by Japanese pirates and rushes onto the battlefield herself to rescue her younger sibling held captive on Tsushima Island. In this, Go Youn-jung portrays an independent and strong character who pursues her goal even in a chaotic era, forming another emotional axis of the work.
Previously, Go Youn-jung drew attention with a variety of works including the Netflix series "Sweet Home," "Does This Love Interpret?", the Disney+ series "Moving," the film "Hunt," the drama "Alchemy of Souls," "Resident Playbook," and "We Are All Trying Here." She is expected to leave a strong impression once again as a resolute female character who breaks the conventions of period drama through "Nambul."
Moreover, "Nambul" is drawing attention as cinematographer Im Mo-gae's first directorial work; Im has showcased distinctive mise-en-scène in bold films such as "12.12: The Day," "Exhuma," "Hunt," "YADANG: The Snitch," and "Emergency Declaration." In addition, the production is entrusted to the company 하이브미디어코프, which has presented films such as "Seoul's Spring," "Harbin," "Deliver Us from Evil," "Inside Men," and "The Man Standing Next," as well as the Disney+ original series "Made In Korea," adding credibility.
The production team has completed key casting including Lee Byung-hun and Go Youn-jung and is actively in pre-production aiming to start principal photography in the second half of this year. <
