Broadcaster Kim Ji-young candidly revealed the behind-the-scenes story of a pregnancy that came sooner than expected.
On the 7th, the YouTube channel Kim Ji-young released a Q&A video titled "How does someone live three years after appearing on a dating show?"
Currently pregnant, Kim Ji-young said in response to the question "Was this a planned pregnancy?" "I originally planned to have a child in at least two years," revealing that the pregnancy process differed from what she had expected.
She said, "I have polycystic ovary syndrome," explaining, "it is a condition in which ovulation does not occur regularly from the ovaries."
She added, "I am now 30 years old, but my ovarian age came out as 24," noting, "having a younger ovarian age is not necessarily good; it means that eggs were not released as much as the age would suggest, so my periods were irregular."
She also said she took medication for a long time for treatment.
Kim Ji-young said, "From my early to mid-20s, I took oral contraceptives for treatment purposes for about five to six years," adding, "I took about a two-month break because of the risk of blood clots, and that's when the fetal nickname 'Pobi' came along."
She went on, "I heard that people who have taken oral contraceptives for a long time do not immediately regain fertility," saying, "Pobi must have really wanted to come. It came like fate, and I am now filled with gratitude."
Meanwhile, Kim Ji-young married Yoon Soo-young, founder and chief executive of the reading club platform Trevari, last February, and is currently expecting her first child. She has recently shared her newlywed life and pregnancy routine on SBS' Same Bed, Different Dreams 2: You Are My Destiny, receiving much support.
