A has been engaged in divorce litigation with her ex-husband since September last year. She claimed that their marriage collapsed because her ex-husband committed adultery during the marriage and demanded about 10 million won in damages for the dissolution of the de facto marriage and 1.1 million won per month in child support.
In particular, she is known to have alleged that her ex-husband had an inappropriate relationship with a female colleague who is a teacher. This became known as an affair controversy involving the couple's younger son and caused shock.
In this regard, the first trial court ordered the son of Hong Seo-beom and Jo Gap-kyung to pay A 30 million won in consolation money and 800,000 won per month in child support. However, both sides appealed, claiming unfairness regarding the child support, and nevertheless last month the appellate court ruling was revealed to be the same as the original ruling.
In addition, A filed a claim for damages alleging an adulterous affair against the ex-husband's colleague, a female teacher. She won the case and was reportedly awarded 20 million won in compensation.
In March, when the younger son's private life was widely publicized, Hong Seo-beom and Jo Gap-kyung issued an apology. At the time, Hong Seo-beom and Jo Gap-kyung said, "We did not intervene in the divorce process because we respected the privacy and autonomy of our adult son, but as parents we were largely lacking in closely monitoring our child's faults.
