Actor Park Haseon was outraged by the death of a person in their 90s after being assaulted.
The MBC Every1 crime analysis commentary program "Hidden Eye," which airs on the 6th, focuses on a nursing home incident last September in which a resident in his 90s was assaulted by a roommate and ultimately died.
The incident began when a man in his 90s was subjected to one-sided violence by a roommate who shared the same room. But the nursing home only told the victim's family, "There was a minor quarrel and only slight bruising occurred."
The family only confirmed the reality of the assault through CCTV a month after the incident and was shocked.
After the incident the victim's condition deteriorated so rapidly that he could no longer carry out daily activities on his own, but the nursing home was found not to have provided appropriate hospital treatment or follow-up measures. In the end the victim underwent emergency surgery but ultimately died.
Park Haseon could not hide her anger, saying, "This is the nursing home's fault for killing him," and all the cast lamented the lax management and complacent response.
This was not the only case. About six months before this incident, a woman in her 90s who was a resident also died.
At the time the nursing home told the bereaved family it was a natural death, but the case took a new turn when a caregiver who had worked at the facility later made a shocking report that "it was a death caused by abuse."
