'Baek Z Young' Baek Z Young and Jung Suk-won's daughter Haim talked about the private education she currently attends alongside school.
On the 4th, Baek Z Young's YouTube channel released a video titled 'So delicious it made my head spin, took the whole family to Baek Z Young's pho favorite (Vietnam)'. That day Baek Z Young visited Vietnam with her family. Baek Z Young said, "When I came to Vietnam for a concert I stayed at this hotel, and there was a pho place life-changingly good two minutes away on foot. As a joke we said let's come here for 2 Days & 1 Night to eat this, didn't we?" the production team encouraged Baek Z Young, saying,
When Jung Suk-won tried English, daughter Haim shook her head. Haim said, "I want to correct your pronunciation a bit. Pronunciation is important. People have to understand it," but Jung Suk-won confidently retorted, "Pronunciation is important? You can understand me with the heart." Haim said, "They said there's a chance they won't understand," and did not back down, and Jung Suk-won said, "I can do it with body language," likewise not yielding to his daughter.
Haim had to say in English a request from her mother and father asking to reheat the cast-iron pot. Baek Z Young said, "You're the only one among us who can speak English well," and Jung Suk-won said, "Do you know why your mother sends you to an international school? It's so you can come to places like this and act as an interpreter." When Haim successfully placed the order in English, Baek Z Young praised her, saying, "Haim, it's okay to make mistakes. Speaking is more important."
Then the conversation turned to Haim's school life. Jung Suk-won said with a suspicious look, "It seems like she doesn't study," and continued, "I went to a school counseling meeting yesterday. They gave the curriculum and said she needs to do more homework and explained how things will proceed going forward, so I said I wanted Haim's homework load reduced. When I asked them to create an environment where the child can happily run and play, they were taken aback," he relayed the teacher's reaction.
Jung Suk-won said, "So I asked, 'What should we do for Haim?' and they said since she doesn't do her homework they should help her to do it," and Haim felt embarrassed, saying, "It seems like I do more academy homework than school homework." Jung Suk-won pointedly said, "You don't do academy homework well either."
Haim complained, "Dad used to show TV more and that was nice," and Jung Suk-won said, "It was nice, right? But mom didn't like it."
Baek Z Young said, "Except for swimming I let you choose everything you want," and added, "Swimming, dance, beatboxing, inline skating, math, art, English — the academic subjects are only math and English," and told Haim, "If you devote 30 minutes a day you can finish all your homework."
Jung Suk-won sighed, saying, "When Haim was born we also didn't study, so we said we wouldn't force it on conscience. But Baek Z Young makes them do a lot," yet Baek Z Young showed a firm educational stance, saying, "We are parents. Just because we didn't do it, does that mean she shouldn't either? We have to guide her."
