Actress Son Tae-young revealed the behind-the-scenes story of how she became Miss Korea.
On the 5th, a video titled "Son Tae-young's dilemma of wanting to return to Korea these days" was uploaded to the channel 'Mrs. New Jersey Son Tae-young'.
Son Tae-young was chatting while eating at a close parent's house, and an acquaintance asked, "I didn't know this, but wasn't your older sister also a Miss Korea?" Son Tae-young said, "My second eldest sister is. She is a senior. Same cohort," and "So I entered because of my second sister. We went to the hair salon together, so it happened that way," revealing that the hair salon owner encouraged her to enter.
Earlier, Son Tae-young said, "The owner told my mother right after my sister became Miss Korea, 'Have the younger sister enter next year,' so I entered," and the owner recalled at the time, "Seeing her follow along, I thought I absolutely had to send her out," reminiscing about the past.
Son Tae-young's biological older sister, Son Hye-im, who is a Miss Korea alumna, married fellow 2007-born and world-renowned pianist Yiruma in 2007. Son Tae-young was crowned Miss Korea's beauty (mi) in 2000. Son Tae-young explained, "I was in high school then, so I just went along and watched, and the hair salon owner jokingly said, 'Oh? Your younger sister should enter next year.' It wasn't that I said, 'I want to be Miss Korea.' I entered absentmindedly and it went well," saying she was lucky.
