Actor Kim Gyuri, followed by former After School member Nana and rapper Simon Dominic (Simon Dominic), have been revealed to have suffered thefts and robberies after exposing their homes on broadcasts, sounding an alarm.
On the 2nd, a video titled 'Samdi's day' released on the YouTube channel 'Life84' featured webtoon artist Kian84 meeting and talking with his close friend, rapper Samdi. In the video, Kian84 visited Samdi's home and talked with him, but Samdi, while welcoming his close friend Kian84, was strict about security. In particular, he said, "I won't even tell the location of the safe. A thief broke into our house," which he revealed to be shocking.
In fact, Samdi's house was burglarized in the past, and an expensive diamond-set watch was stolen. Coincidentally, the diamond watch that had been stolen was put on consignment at a watch shop Samdi frequented, and Samdi was able to catch the culprit through the shop's CCTV.
But because of this, Samdi said he can no longer trust people and cannot film at home. The reason Samdi and Kian84 became close was also through the MBC variety show I Live Alone, where he revealed his daily life at home. Recently, circumstances showing Samdi's absence from I Live Alone have added to the sadness.
Above all, recently in the entertainment industry many stars who revealed their homes have repeatedly suffered violations of privacy, attracting more attention. Before Samdi, actors Kim Gyuri and Nana suffered burglaries at their homes.
In May, a man in his 40s, identified as Mr. A, was accused of illegally entering Kim Gyuri's home, assaulting Kim Gyuri and a female cohabitant and demanding 30 million won. Bound and confined, Kim Gyuri risked danger and escaped barefoot from the house, sought help from a passerby, and Mr. A fled the scene; he later surrendered and an investigation began.
Especially during the police investigation, Mr. A claimed he had watched Kim Gyuri's home, which had been shown on broadcasts, on YouTube and confirmed the location before going there, adding to the shock. Kim Gyuri's home was in fact detailed on the 2022 KBS 2TV variety show Stars' Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant. Based on that, Mr. A is reported to have identified Kim Gyuri's home location.
Meanwhile, in November last year a man in his 30s, identified as Mr. B, broke into Nana's home and carried out a robbery. Mr. B threatened Nana and her mother, who were at home at the time, with a weapon and demanded valuables. In the process, Nana was stabbed and sustained injuries requiring four weeks of treatment, and her mother suffered fractures from being struck with a blunt object, causing serious injuries. During the investigation, Mr. B said he tracked the location using clues such as building exteriors and layouts from Nana's past variety show appearances and social media videos, which added to the shock.
In addition, it has been revealed that Samdi also suffered home intrusion and theft due to revealing his home on broadcasts. The practice of celebrities revealing their homes has become widespread not only on broadcasts but also on SNS and YouTube, raising vigilance. The need for minimal safety measures to protect privacy in many observational variety show formats is emerging.
