TOMORROW X TOGETHER (TXT) member Yeonjun intensified comeback excitement by suddenly releasing a preview of the new album. Yeonjun, who perfectly digested a variety of genres, revealed a distinctive "Yeonjun core" and proved his musical growth.
Yeonjun uploaded a preview video of the mini album "NO LABELS: PART 02" to HYBE Labels' official YouTube channel at 12 a.m. on the 4th. In this video, six highlight tracks were unveiled, raising expectations among global fans: the title track "Ice Cream," "Vanilla," "Even If I'm a Little Clumsy, Again (Baby Wassup?)," "No More Disco," "Fxxking Star," and "Long Way Long Ride."
Through this record, Yeonjun shows limitless genre versatility including rap rock, punk rock, R&B, pop and alternative hip-hop. In the preview video, Yeonjun maximized each track's atmosphere with outfits suited to each track, expressive facial acting and movements.
The video opens powerfully with the rap rock track "Vanilla." Contrabass sound, rough vocals given a megaphone effect and a sweet pre-chorus combine to deliver a unique auditory pleasure. In particular, this song was inserted at the end of the music video for the previous work NO LABELS: PART 01, showing a solid consolidation that runs through both albums.
The following "No More Disco" is a danceable pop track with synthesizer sounds and addictive autotuned vocals that deliver an exhilarating lift. "Even If I'm a Little Clumsy, Again (Baby Wassup?)" is an R&B song with a sophisticated chord progression that targets the 2000s sensibility, and "Fxxking Star" captivates with stylish rap in alternative hip-hop. "Long Way Long Ride," based on lo-fi sound, leaves a dreamy aftertaste.
The highlight is the title track "Ice Cream." A punk rock song combining vintage drums, an addictive bass and guitar riffs, its latter half features a Spanish-tinged sound variation that exudes sensual charm. It raises expectations for the birth of a "Yeonjun-style summer song" that will precisely target this summer.
Yeonjun added sincerity by directly participating in the songwriting of two songs on the new record: "Even If I'm a Little Clumsy, Again (Baby Wassup?)" and "Long Way Long Ride."
Fresh and sensuous promotions timed with the comeback are also causing a buzz. Yeonjun opened a DIY microsite for the new songs to enable two-way communication with global fans. Fans can choose one of six ice creams matched to the tracks, then add various beats like toppings to customize and listen to their own rich sound. This site, which actively uses the summer concept, will operate until 1 p.m. on the 10th.
