Voice actress the late Kang Hee-sun passed away, and the producers of 'You Quiz on the Block' expressed their condolences.
tvN 'You Quiz on the Block' posted on its official social account on the 4th, "Our eternal Shin-chan mother, voice actress Kang Hee-sun. Thanks to the voice actress, my childhood was happy. Thank you for lighting the world with your beautiful voice. We offer our deepest condolences," the post read.
The released photo captured the late voice actress Kang Hee-sun appearing. It was from the episode broadcast on Apr. 17, 2024, when Kang Hee-sun revealed her battle with cancer, saying, "Actually it's been four years. During a health checkup they found a problem in my colon that spread to my liver. It was about 17. I underwent chemotherapy 47 times."
Voice actress Kang Hee-sun said, "When I received chemotherapy and was discharged, my voice wouldn't come out that week. The next week my voice would come back. So I went then to record. After the last surgery I said, 'PD, I really can't do Shin-chan's mother anymore. Please change the voice actress.' Then they said they would push back the schedule. Once they did that I couldn't worry. After two months I went and recorded," which moved listeners.
In particular, voice actress Kang Hee-sun said, "If I were this sick and I didn't have this, what would I have endured with? I thought that too. I am a voice actress, but I really love being a voice actress. My profession. I also love Shin-chan's mother very much. So I think that was possible. I had willpower and a sense of mission, and it really became my support," she said, leaving people moved.
Meanwhile, voice actress Kang Hee-sun died on the morning of the 4th at the age of 66. The funeral wake was set up in Room 31 at the Seoul St. Mary's Hospital funeral hall. The funeral will be held at 7:40 a.m. on the 6th, and the burial site is Yongin Park Honor Stone.
