"Yoo Quiz on the Block" actress Park Ji-hyun revealed why she asked her doctor father for advice on portraying a terminally ill patient.
On the 27th episode of tvN "Yoo Quiz on the Block" (hereafter "Yoo Quiz"), film Wild Sing lead actress Park Ji-hyun appeared. Through the drama Yumi's Cells 1, the films Hidden Face, Gonjiam and Reborn Rich, she became widely known to the public and was a trending actor with her next project already decided.
Park Ji-hyun said, "Wild Sing is about a triangle coed group with a late-1990s to early-2000s sensibility that had a hit and dreams of making a comeback in their 40s," and spoke about Wild Sing, which opens on June 3. The first film promotions for Wild Sing revealed stage footage of Park Ji-hyun, Gang Dong-won and Um Tae-goo and the perennial No. 2 balladeer Choi Seong-gon (played by Oh Jung-se), which shocked internet users. Many think Park Ji-hyun's acting debut came from being cast after her face became known through a college magazine modeling gig, but Park Ji-hyun had dreamed of becoming an actress since childhood. Last year, Park Ji-hyun capped her acting with You and Everything Else. For the role of Sang-yeon, who is terminally ill and swallows all the painful experiences he has had while dying, what anguish did she experience? Park Ji-hyun said, "My father got food poisoning, and when he was hospitalized they found a large abscess on his stomach and discovered it was cancer. He got progressively worse, and at that moment I thought, 'He is giving me one thing and taking another away,'" revealing her father's illness.
Park Ji-hyun said, "My father said, 'If it's not family, I just wanted to die.' In that moment I understood what Sang-yeon's heart felt like," and said, "I asked a lot for advice about what mindset patients endure with," drawing attention.
