The SEVENTEEN members THE 8 and Vernon have teamed up as a new unit, "V8," to reach music fans around the world.
According to PLEDIS Entertainment Co., the two will release their first unit album on June 29 and begin full-scale activities.
The unit name "V8" was created by combining the first letter "V" of Vernon's English name and the number "8" in THE 8's stage name. It symbolizes the powerful thrust of relentlessly racing forward, using the two members' distinctive sensibilities as the driving force, like a V8 engine that creates strong acceleration.
Global enthusiasm for them has already been heating up even before their official debut. From April 27 for about a month, the "V8 HUNT" challenge saw fans around the world find and verify "V" and "8" in everyday signs or passages from books, demonstrating explosive anticipation for the new unit.
V8 will continue its relentless run by holding consecutive solo performances immediately after the new release. They will hold their first concert, 2026 VERNON THE 8 [V8] LIVE, on July 11 and 12 at KINTEX Exhibition Center 1 Hall 1 in Goyang, Gyeonggi, where they will meet domestic fans. Then on July 18 and 19 they will move to AsiaWorld-Expo Arena 10 in Hong Kong to continue the global momentum. The concert poster released on the 28th captivated attention by imprinting V8's unique energy through simple yet rough-textured typography.
Both members have consistently proven outstanding individual creative capabilities as well as group activities, drawing even more attention to this meeting. THE 8 showed a wide artistic spectrum encompassing diverse genres and dance through the 2024 Chinese EP STARDUST and the art film series THE 8 Contemporary ART. Vernon also released the 2022 mixtape Black Eye and, through collaborations with numerous artists, was promoted to a regular member of the Korea Music Copyright Association in 2024; last year he was appointed a voting member of the Recording Academy for the Grammy Awards.
