Starship's new boy group IDID spread their wings wide.
IDID (Jang Yonghun, Kim Minjae, Park Wonbin, Chu Yuchan, Park Sunghyun, Baek Junhyuk, Jeong Semin) released their second single "FLY!" in full and the music video for the title track of the same name at 6 p.m. on the 27th on various music sites.
Last September, through their first EP I did it., IDID debuted showing a look of moving toward the spotlight with an attitude that did not fit molds or conform to standards, and two months after debut they released their first digital single PUSH BACK and continued active promotions. The fact that IDID's new release comes about six months after PUSH BACK draws attention to how they have grown during that time.
As the album title of their second single FLY! suggests, IDID aims to fly higher. This release builds on the team's diverse colors accumulated through the debut EP I did it. and the first digital single PUSH BACK and expands that flow in a brighter, more upbeat direction. Instead of the tension of trying hard to prove something, the album highlights the team's natural confidence that has found its own rhythm.
Rather than an overly staged solemnity, playful energy and positive vibes predominate, and the title track "FLY!" is a dance track that most clearly conveys IDID's direct energy. Based on the boom-bap groove of old-school hip-hop, it combines heavy rhythms, cowbell sounds and bright chant choruses in harmonious interplay. The music video released with the song feels like watching a vintage youth film. The video, which tells the story of boys who had been dazedly holding toy planes finally encountering a huge real airplane flying overhead, intuitively conveys the message of "ending wandering and together taking flight (fly) toward higher places."
The track "'Attent!on" is a song that contrasts hip drum sounds with smooth synth lines. The breezy mood and lyrical melody naturally draw out IDID's distinctive boyish charm, and it was pre-released at the first fan concert held in April to enthusiastic response.
