The group XLOV, which delivered a fresh shock to the pop music scene with its distinctive 'genderless (Genderless)' identity, is finally unveiling itself and aiming squarely at the global music market.
XLOV (Umuti, Rui, Hyun, Haru) today (27th) at 6 p.m. released mini album 2 I,God (I,God) across various online music sites and has launched full-scale comeback activities. This new release is the first since mini album 1 UXLXVE (Unlove), released on Nov., and marks a return after about six months, promising a more mature musical spectrum and BUMSUP performances.
The title track SERVE (Serve) features bold and diverse sound arrangements rarely seen in the existing K-pop scene. It blends XLOV's confident message over a groovy beat, and their unique performance is expected to add intense catchiness.
Especially, the music video, which is unveiled simultaneously with the single, draws attention with major support from leading actress Han So-hee. The music video uses the chess rule of "pawn promotion" as a theme to sensually portray the narrative of an imperfect being overcoming trials and ultimately becoming a complete being. Combined with lavish mise-en-scène and XLOV's signature "voguing" performance, it is said to achieve an unprecedented visual synergy.
This album I,God is the definitive statement of XLOV's identity, the first K-pop male idol to put genderless front and center. For this, member Umuti once again took charge of producing the entire album, and members Hyun and Haru also proved their solid musical capabilities by being credited with lyrics on the included tracks.
The album includes a substantial seven tracks of unprecedented quality, including the title track.
Law: The Rules (法則:THE RULES) is a song that sensually compresses the overall color of this album based on original jazz. Extancy is a unit song by members Umuti and Rui, a track that injects confidence into all the charming people of the world. BACK 2 BACK (Back 2 Back) is a song that sings of XLOV's solid chemistry that shines more brilliantly together. HIPS is a unit song by members Hyun and Haru that interprets each member's innate hipness in XLOV's trendy language. Masterpiece (Masterpiece) is a song that expresses the emotion of finding one's own light amid anxiety and wavering with a dreamy melody.
Through bold attempts that break the boundaries of genres such as jazz, house, hyperpop, hip-hop and EDM, they are determined to firmly establish themselves as a confident global rookie.<
