The group CORTIS achieved the feat of becoming the first boy group that made a comeback this year to reach the top of the Melon weekly chart.
CORTIS (Martin, James, Juhun, Sunghyun, Geonho)'s mini album 2 title track "REDRED" ranked No. 1 on the latest Melon weekly chart (tracking period: May 18–24). This is the first record among songs released by boy groups this year, and the fact that it topped a chart that is based not only on streaming counts but also on actual listener numbers proves their popular recognition.
The rise of "REDRED" was dramatic. After first entering the weekly chart at No. 64, it rose stepwise to No. 9 in the first week of May and No. 3 in the second week, finally reaching the summit. On the Melon daily chart it has held the No. 1 spot for eight consecutive days from the 19th to the 26th.
In particular, among boy groups that debuted within the past five years, CORTIS is the only team to have reached No. 1 on both Melon daily and weekly charts. In addition, they topped the Bugs weekly chart for two consecutive weeks, ranked No. 1 on Spotify Korea's "Weekly Top Songs" for four consecutive weeks, and dominated major domestic and international music platforms such as Apple Music's "Today's Top 100: Korea" chart at No. 1 for 31 consecutive days.
They are also the first boy group that debuted within the past five years to enter major global Spotify charts and remain on long-running charts.
As of the 25th, CORTIS's monthly Spotify listener count exceeded a staggering 12.11 million. This is an overwhelming scale corresponding to a "top 3" that follows BTS in terms of the highest-ever records for K-pop boy groups.
Their activity on the U.S. Billboard charts is also noteworthy: they proved their global stature in less than a year since debut by ranking No. 17 (May 16) on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart, the gateway to the Billboard Hot 100. Also, the mini album "GREENGREEN" entered the main album chart, the Billboard 200, at No. 3 (May 23), setting a major record as the fastest to reach the "top 3" since debut among K-pop groups excluding project groups.
Not only the title track but also album tracks such as "TNT" and "ACAI" are receiving love across the board, and in particular "YOUNGCREATORCREW" has created an online sensation with the "youngkeke" syndrome, a catchphrase symbolizing the young and hip generation.
CORTIS will meet domestic fans at the "Weverse Con Festival" held on June 7 at the KSPO Dome and the 88 Lawn Square in Olympic Park, Seoul. They will then perform at the "Allo Bank Festival" in Jakarta, Indonesia, on June 20, and on Aug. 1 they will take the stage at Lollapalooza Chicago, a major U.S. music festival, further cementing their presence as a global sensation. In particular, on July 31, the day before the main Lollapalooza performance, they plan to engage more intensively with local audiences through a solo aftershow at the House of Blues Chicago.
