Actor Choi Dae-hoon, who was once a taekwondo star representing Korea, now returns to living rooms as a character with a twist: a hero to neighborhood children.
The SBS new Friday-Saturday drama Manager Kim, which premieres June 26, (written by Nam Dae-joong, directed by Lee Seung-young·Lee So-eun, planned by StudioS, produced by StudioS·Fantagio) released the first appearance scene and character introduction showing Choi Dae-hoon in the role of Seong Han-su and his wildly contrasting reversal moments.
Manager Kim is based on the mega-hit Naver webtoon of the same name and is a father-universe revenge action drama in which "the most ordinary" father becomes "the most dangerous" man to retrieve his one and only daughter and fights a desperate battle. The project brought together writer Nam Dae-joong, known for his stylish writing in The Great Wish and 30 Days, director Lee Seung-young of Wonderful World and Tracer, and director Lee So-eun with a fresh sensibility.
Choi Dae-hoon plays Seong Han-su, currently a warmhearted taekwondo studio owner, who in the past was a gold medalist who enjoyed brilliant glory and a secret agent shrouded in mystery, delivering a three-dimensional performance.
The released first appearance scene fully reveals Seong Han-su's reversal narrative. The image of studio owner Seong Han-su in a hanbok-like robe gently teaching children at his white taekwondo studio contrasts sharply with the photo on the studio wall showing him, waving the Taegeukgi, overcome with emotion during his gold medalist days. Known as an "out-of-standard figure" with overwhelming talent, his entanglement with the protagonist Manager Kim (So Jisub) is already raising fans' heart rates as they wonder how his dormant "martial artist DNA" will manifest.
A month before the premiere, Choi Dae-hoon said, "I am very excited and grateful to be able to present the shooting set, which I genuinely enjoyed, to viewers," conveying the hot enthusiasm on set.
In particular, to describe his character Seong Han-su, he introduced him with a playful and original phrase, "pointy-pointy, tick-tick, fluffy-fluffy," raising curiosity and expectations about the character.
Choi Dae-hoon added, "As the staff, production team and all the actors have striven and worked hard for this moment, I will wait for you with anticipation rather than worry or fear. I ask for your warm interest and love for Manager Kim," expressing his firm resolve and sincere request regarding the project.
Meanwhile, Choi Dae-hoon received great love for the character Hakssi in the drama Pokssak Sogasseuda and recently showed a powerful transformation as Son Kyung-hoon in The Wonder Fools.
