The popularity of My Royal Nemesis is no ordinary matter.
SBS Friday-Saturday drama My Royal Nemesis (directed by Han Tae-seop, Kim Hyun-woo; written by Kang Hyun-joo; produced by Studio S, Gil Pictures) is drawing popularity as a romantic comedy drama like a hair-trigger war between unknown actress Shin Seo-ri, possessed by the soul of a notorious Joseon-era villainess and turned into a 'villain,' and chaebol Cha Segye, a vicious conglomerate heir called a monster born of capitalism.
My Royal Nemesis has boasted an unstoppable rise, breaking its own record for highest ratings for every episode since its first broadcast, thanks to Lim Ji-yeon and Heo Nam-jun's rom-com performances that produce standout moments each episode, a tightly woven script, and direction that heightens immersion.
In particular, episode 6 of My Royal Nemesis saw its peak rating soar to 11.9%, recording 10.3% nationwide and 10% in the Seoul metropolitan area, once again setting a new personal best. In Good Data Corporation's FUNdex popularity rankings for the third week of May (May 18–May 24), it ranked first in integrated TV-OTT popularity, and cast members Lim Ji-yeon and Heo Nam-jun took second and third in the integrated TV-OTT cast rankings, continuing their phenomenon-level popularity.
Especially beyond Korea, overseas reactions have been explosive. Entering its third week on air, My Royal Nemesis ranked first on Netflix's "Top 10 in Korea today" series and secured a spot in the global charts' top 10 in 57 countries, showing steady global popularity.
With word of mouth now driving a global rise, anticipation is growing about what results My Royal Nemesis might achieve going forward.
