Weverse Company, which operates the global superfans platform Weverse, a subsidiary of HYBE, has welcomed a new leader and is accelerating efforts to advance global services and strengthen business execution.
Weverse Company said on the 27th that it appointed Yang Ju-il as the new chief executive officer. Yang will officially take office on June 1 and begin full-scale management activities.
This appointment is part of a growth strategy to further advance Weverse as a leading brand in the global fandom platform sector and to strongly promote the execution of its global business.
Yang Ju-il is regarded as a top business expert who has worked across IT, platforms and content.
He began his career as a developer at NHN and proved his management capability by serving as CEO of NHN Ticketlink, NHN Bugs and NHN Travel Doctor. He went on to serve as vice president of Kakao (head of the KakaoTalk division), CEO of Ground X, and CEO of AXZ, leading the operation and strategy formulation for messenger and platform services representing Korea.
Weverse Company said, "The reason for recruiting Yang was his top-level experience and know-how in each IT field, including portals, music, messenger and ticket services."
Now in its eighth year since service launch, Weverse is a global fandom platform that provides one-stop access to all services needed for fandom activities, centered on a community service where artists and fans around the world communicate closely, including media content, official artist merchandise (MD) sales and real-time live streaming.
Since its debut in June 2019, as of April 2026 about 180 global artist teams have joined, and cumulative app downloads have exceeded 150 million. It has also established itself as a mega platform with more than 10 million monthly active users accessing from 245 countries and regions worldwide each month.
Weverse Company said, "Yang's unparalleled experience and insight accumulated across various IT service fields will be a powerful momentum for Weverse to leap to the next level," and added, "Through this, we plan to concentrate company-wide capabilities on establishing a new standard in the global fandom platform market and creating a sustainable growth structure."
