'Malja Show' broadcaster Lee Kyung-sil shared candid thoughts about her family and how her outlook on life changed after becoming a parent.
On the 25th, Lee Kyung-sil, who appeared on KBS2's 'Malja Show', offered realistic advice about parents and children and marital relationships, drawing empathy.
That day, Lee Kyung-sil brought up the long period she lived caring for her biological mother and said, "It has been about three years since my mother left for Gunsan."
After hearing a story about a couple living with the wife's mother, Lee Kyung-sil said, "Children are important, but the couple comes first. Within that, the daughter's position is also very important," offering advice. In particular, she said, "Parents are happy when they see the couple living happily. Children learn by watching their parents live happily," emphasizing balance in relationships.
She also shared thoughts on the realistic distance between children and parents. In response to the question, "Which is better: children who don't visit but only give pocket money, or children who visit often but always need something when they come?" Lee Kyung-sil laughed and answered, "My household is closer to the B side." She then said calmly, "It's important to be satisfied according to my circumstances. If you covet what you can't have, it only becomes stress," adding, "There are differences in each other's positions."
Above all, she spoke of how her mindset completely changed after becoming a parent. Lee Kyung-sil said, "A woman's life doesn't start anew when she gets married; from the moment she gives birth, she has completely different feelings." She added, "After going through the hardship of giving birth, I thought, 'So this is how my mother gave birth to me,'" and said, "After bearing and raising a child, what I had lived before felt like nothing. It truly felt like living another life."
The reason Lee Kyung-sil's family story drew more attention is the story involving her son Son Bo-seung.
Earlier, Son Bo-seung married in 2021 when he was 23 after a premarital pregnancy, and it is known that Lee Kyung-sil was so shocked at the time that their relationship became distant for a while. But their relationship recovered after a grandson was born. Lee Kyung-sil has also said on past broadcasts, "I worried that having a child at a young age might lead to irresponsible behavior," but added, "Fortunately, the daughter-in-law raises the child very well. I couldn't trust Bo-seung, but I had faith in the daughter-in-law."
