Bae Young-man revealed his warm-hearted son.
On the 25th episode of TV CHOSUN's 'Joseon's lover,' Bae Young-man's son Bae Gang-min and his Japanese fiancée were shown.
On that episode Choi Seong Kook first explained that the facts regarding Bae Young-man had not been confirmed, then said, "When he did his military service, he was at the MDZ. Leaflets flew over from North Korea that put Bae Young-man's face on them and said that if you live in the South, this is what happens. It said he was a hungry, starving South Korean soldier." Kim Kook Jin then said, "By lineage of thinness he is my direct senior," which drew laughter.
In a scene that followed, Choi Seong Kook's words proved to be true. Kim Hak-rae said, "Bae Young-man now has some weight on his face. During his military days (he was so thin) his helmet spun on his head. Back then his face was a mess. He served at the DMZ. North Korean kids looked through binoculars and snapped a photo. They put Bae Young-man's photo on a leaflet that said, 'Young, starving people of the South, come to the prosperous North.'"
Bae Young-man testified, "At that time I weighed 47kg. I served in the 15th Division and my face appeared on the leaflet. They said, 'Because of you they thought our country is starving, so go back to the rear.'"
Bae Young-man also revealed a photo of his son, saying he took after his wife more than him. Bae Young-man's son stood over 180cm tall and had a pleasant, cute impression. Kim Hak-rae asked, "Is that really your biological son? He looks like an actor," and Jung I-rang said, "He looks like Sung Si Kyung."
