The late Chae Dong-ha, the eternal leader of the group SG Wannabe, marked the 15th anniversary of his death.
Chae Dong-ha was found dead at his home in Eunpyeong District, Seoul, on May 26, 2011. He was 30.
At the request of the bereaved family, police performed an autopsy and said, "No signs of homicide were found." It was reported that the late singer was receiving outpatient treatment for depression at the time.
The late singer, who debuted as a solo artist in 2002, performed as a member of SG Wannabe from 2004 alongside Kim Yongjun and Kim Jinho, and released many hit songs such as Timeless, 죄와 벌, 살다가, 내 사람, and 아리랑, receiving great love. As the leader who led the team, he left the group in 2008, and his spot was filled by Lee Seokhoon.
The late Chae Dong-ha later moved to a solo career and released songs such as 어떻게 잊겠습니까, 하루가 미치고, and 어제 같은데. Also, the late Chae Dong-ha had an overseas performance scheduled the day after his death, and with a mini album showcase and birthday party planned to coincide with his birthday with less than a month remaining, the news was even more shocking.
Fans and the public still miss his voice. In 2021, Hangout With Yoo began the "MSG Wannabe Project," which reexamined SG Wannabe's classic songs, and fans expressed their aching sadness as they remembered the late singer.
Kim Jinho appeared on tvN's You Quiz on the Block and mentioned the late Chae Dong-ha, saying, "There were farewells with some members, and there are more stories about life." He added, "Right now I want to record my voice like a diary and share it with people," expressing his longing for the late Chae Dong-ha.
