SHINee member Key delivered a special gift for the members.
On the 25th, a video titled "congratulations on the 18th birthday, Bitdols" was uploaded to SHINee's official channel.
In the video, Key planned a surprise event for the members to mark the 18th anniversary of their debut. Staff conducted a fake interview before the members' concert practice, and during it the lights suddenly went out and staff members carrying a debut celebration cake appeared.
After the staff's surprise event, Key said, "I bought a gift," and took out the prepared gift. The gift was jewelry from luxury brand B. After handing out the gifts to the members, Key said, "Give this one later to (Jonghyun) hyung," showing he had not forgotten the late Jonghyun.
Onew said, "This is a real surprise. Thank you," and Taemin immediately tried it on, saying, "Jewelry? A necklace? I'll wear this now." He said, "I'm so moved by this gesture. At a glance, it looks like the design was chosen by hyung himself, not ordered by someone else." Key added, "And this also gets donated to Save the Children," conveying a special meaning. Minho also said, "I'll wear it well. It's expensive to give such a gift," expressing thanks.
Afterward, SHINee members delivered a message to SHINee World. Onew said, "That the time we've grown up together is already 18 years makes me think that being with someone this long is something really remarkable. Thinking that we've spent more than half our lives with you makes me very moved, and I hope we can continue to grow together as much as possible in the future. Thank you," he said.
Minho said, "Thank you so much for celebrating our 18th anniversary, and congratulations to SHINee World on 18 years as well. I hope we can continue to spend many good times together now and in the future. I'm truly grateful," and Taemin, showing off the necklace, said, "I'm so glad I debuted with Key hyung. Envious, right?" which brought laughter.
He said, "Actually, at the age of a third-year high school student, I think it's amazing that SHINee has grown healthily to that age, and because you have watched over us firmly and supported us so much, I think we were able to do well. As much as the years we've spent together, there will be more of us moving forward, so please watch over that and love us. Thank you always. I love you."
Key said, "It's our birthday, and we congratulate you too. For some it may be the age of adulthood, but thank you so much for staying with us for such a long time, including those who have recently started to like us and have consistently sent their support. Rather than making a big fuss, I hope we can happily pass this anniversary like our own every year. We will get back to preparing for the concert right away and of course go on stage and sing. Thank you," he added.
Toward the end of the video, scenes of Key purchasing gifts for the members were also shown, drawing attention. Key said, "I just finished practice and came home, but because of the concert I practice almost every day. Very hard. The reason I'm in front of the camera is because I wanted to give something like a gift for the debut anniversary. Calling it a surprise among ourselves felt a bit awkward, so I thought I'll just buy it and give it boldly, so I'm considering purchasing it," he said.
He said, "I hope it's jewelry that can be kept for a long time. Clothes are hard to keep for a long time. I thought about what could be memorable and meaningful, and this is what I chose. Celebrating the debut and keeping things for a long time is important, but Save the Children's purpose is so good, and I thought it would be meaningful to celebrate our debut while doing something that could help others, even a little, so I decided on this," he explained.
He continued, "I'll place the order now and since I'll meet the members the day after tomorrow, I'll make sure to include each one, including Jonghyun hyung's. I hope everyone likes it," and added, "It's a three-month installment plan. It's interest-free. The purchase went through like this. I hope everyone receives it and likes it," showing his affection for the members and adding warmth.
Meanwhile, Key suffered difficulties last December after becoming embroiled in the Jusaimo controversy. At the time, the agency SM Entertainment explained, "Key visited a clinic in Gangnam-gu where A worked based on a recommendation from an acquaintance and met him as a doctor for the first time. He had continued to receive treatment at the clinic, and recently, when visiting the clinic was difficult, he received treatment at home a few times. He believed A was a doctor, and because A did not make any particular remarks, he did not think receiving treatment at home would be a problem," the agency explained.
Key also posted a message himself and bowed his head, saying, "I prided myself on being able to stay away from such matters, but that thinking seems to have made me less wise about those around me, and I am deeply sorry and ashamed to the many people who trusted and supported me. Regarding this matter, I will sincerely do everything I can. I will take time to reflect on myself and my surroundings once again." After that, Key withdrew from scheduled appearances and suspended activities after leaving fixed-member roles on tvN's Amazing Saturday and MBC's I Live Alone.
Meanwhile, SHINee is set to return to activities and perform again in front of fans through their eighth solo concert '- The Trilogy I - 2026 SHINee WORLD VIII : [THE INVERT]' (- The Trilogy I - 2026 SHINee World VIII : [The Invert]) at KSPO DOME in Olympic Park, Songpa-gu, Seoul, over three days from the 29th to the 31st.
