World-renowned pop star SZA revealed her intense fandom for the group BTS, rising to become an all-time "successful fan."
On the 25th (local time) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, U.S., during the 52nd American Music Awards (AMAs), SZA beat out prominent nominees to win the Best Female R&B Artist award.
One of the enjoyable highlights of the ceremony was the meeting between SZA and BTS. BTS suddenly appeared on stage as the presenters for that category. When her name was called, SZA walked to the stage and, before even holding the trophy, could not hide her excitement as she looked at the BTS members standing at the podium.
Standing at the microphone, the singer of the hit song "Kill Bill," SZA, before beginning her official acceptance remarks, turned toward BTS and said, "I am so happy to meet you like this in person officially," expressing her emotion.
She then repeatedly looked at BTS and confessed, "I feel like I'm going to go crazy because I can't believe this moment is real. So I have to engrave this moment fully in my heart," bringing smiles to fans around the world. The image of the top diva leading the global pop market transforming into a perfect "girl fan" in front of BTS and savoring the moment became one of the ceremony's standout scenes.
After expressing her overwhelmed feelings toward BTS for quite some time, SZA finally concluded her prepared remarks by saying, "I thank my label and God. And I hope God's blessings for my precious fans."
BTS's stature was proven throughout the ceremony. Returning after all members completed military service with the 10th studio album Arirang, BTS claimed the top honors of Artist of the Year and Song of the Summer, demonstrating a presence that made the military hiatus seem irrelevant. In addition, global rookie girl group KATSEYE, who won the newcomer award, said on stage, "We give special thanks to BTS for giving us immense inspiration so we can represent our culture on the world stage," showing that BTS is truly an entertainer's entertainer.
