Doctor on the Edge is a medical human romance depicting public health doctor Do Ji-ui (Lee Jae-wook), who moved to the notoriously avoided island Pyeondongdo, and the secretive nurse Yuk Ha-ri (Shin Ye Eun). Based on the webtoon Jonbeo Doctor (author Kim Tae-poong), which is being serialized with popularity on KakaoPage·Kakao Webtoon, Doctor on the Edge raises expectations for what kind of unique thrills and emotional lines director Lee Myung-woo—who showcased his distinctive rhythmic directing and sense of humor through Boyhood and The Fiery Priest—will create when he meets the romance genre.
Lee Jae-wook transforms into public health doctor Do Ji-ui, who has trauma related to the sea and islands. Filled with wariness, Do Ji-ui is a character who grows while experiencing various incidents and accidents on Pyeondongdo. He enlisted on the 18th, so he could not attend the production presentation that day.
