Actor Shin Ha Kyun makes a special appearance in the film Wild Sing, directed by Son Jae-gon, which opens on June 3.
Wild Sing is a comedy about a once-dominant pop music act, the three-member mixed dance group "Triangle," that disbanded overnight after becoming embroiled in an unexpected incident and now attempts a reckless challenge to seize a comeback opportunity 20 years later.
In particular, Shin Ha Kyun, known as "Hakyun Shin," plays Park, the CEO of the agency Yonggu Records, who launched, nurtured and then vanished overnight with Triangle, drawing attention for his comic performance.
In the film, CEO Park discovers b-boy Hyun Woo (Gang Dong-won) at a playground audition and tricks rapper Sang-gu (Um Tae-goo) by promising to form an authentic hip-hop team, showing he is very much a con artist type.
With his keen eye he had put Triangle at the top of the music industry, but he disappeared as soon as a scandal broke. He later reappeared in front of the members 20 years later. Shin Ha Kyun is expected to raise the film's tension with his annoying yet flavorful comic acting.
Above all, Shin Ha Kyun, who delivered a compelling performance as the villain Lee Mu-bae in Extreme Job, reunites with production company About Film to raise expectations. Oh Jung-se, who showed legendary chemistry as the "Lee Mu-bae–Ted Chang" duo in Extreme Job, praised Shin Ha Kyun upon their reunion on set, saying, "always flexible and a dependable actor you want to lean on," expressing deep trust.
Director Son Jae-gon, who directed the film, also revealed the behind-the-scenes anecdote, "When we tried to exchange contact information at our first meeting, we found each other's numbers saved from 15 years ago," and he praised Shin Ha Kyun, saying, "It was so enjoyable I wondered why we hadn't worked together sooner. I want to keep working with him."
