The group LE SSERAFIM solidified their unique musical world by reinterpreting classic hits through their new song "BOOMPALA" (Boompala).
LE SSERAFIM (Kim Chae-won, Sakura, Heo Yun-jin, Kazuha, Hong Eun-chae) released their second full-length album "PUREFLOW" pt.1 on the 22nd and made a surprise comeback. The title track "BOOMPALA" delivers a positive and cheerful message that "fear, depending on perspective and attitude, may actually be nothing but an illusion," targeting listeners' tastes.
In particular, the new song samples the mega-hit Macarena, which shook the world, delighting global music fans. It features a familiar sound that captures the ear from the intro and a chorus with powerful addictiveness. Added to this is a performance that wittily incorporates the original song's signature choreography, completing what reviewers call a "festival song" that people of all ages and genders can enjoy together.
This clever sampling by LE SSERAFIM is not their first. With each album they have shown an exceptional sense for layering the team's unique color over widely popular classics.
2023's 'UNFORGIVEN': the group sampled the soundtrack from the American western film "The Outlaw at Sunset" to express the rough tension of the wilderness. They visually and sonically amplified the team's confident identity of breaking the rules set by the world.
Mini album 4 track "Pierrot": it sampled Kim Wan Sun's "The Pierrot Does Not Laugh at Us." While conveying deep respect for the original, it broadened their musical spectrum with a trendy reinterpretation that spans generations.
For LE SSERAFIM, sampling is not a one-off device of borrowing a familiar melody. They use the original song's popular influence as a springboard and employ sampling as a distinctive tool to more clearly imprint the narrative and message the team wants to convey.
LE SSERAFIM will meet fans with an even more packed schedule of activities. They are set to heat up the college scene by performing on the Kyung Hee University international campus festival stage on the 27th, and on June 6-7 they will appear at the 2026 Weverse Con Festival held at Seoul Olympic Park KSPO DOME and the 88 Grass Plaza.
They will also open the second world tour "2026 LE SSERAFIM TOUR 'PUREFLOW'" starting in Incheon on July 11-12. They will perform 32 shows across 23 cities worldwide, including Japan, North America and Europe.
