Broadcaster Lee Kyung-sil candidly revealed the difficult moments in her life and expressed gratitude to the people who stayed by her side.
On the 26th on KBS2 variety show 'Malja Show', Lee Kyung-sil recalled her signature character 'Dorumulmyeok yeosa', which led her heyday as a female comedian.
She said "When I played 'Dorumulmyeok yeosa' I was 29 years old. It was the time of my first marriage and I was pregnant with my first child," and recalled, "I lacked experience back then."
Lee Kyung-sil married in 1992 and had a son, but later went through a difficult time and experienced a divorce. Having gone through such times, the broadcast that day delivered a deeper resonance about people and loyalty.
In particular, comedian Jung Beom-gyun asked, "Did you see senior Jung Sun-hee say 'I survived thanks to Kyung-sil' ?" and Lee Kyung-sil conveyed that she was moved by the unexpected confession. Lee Kyung-sil said, "It is not easy to say someone helped me overcome a difficult time, but Sun-hee usually says, 'If sister calls at dawn, I'll run out anytime,'" and added, "She also consistently sends good hanwoo every holiday. When I told her to stop sending it, she said, 'I'll take care of you until the day I die,' and seeing her say that on broadcast filled my heart."
She also cited actress Seonwoo Yong-nyeo as a benefactor in her life. She said with a laugh, "When something hard happens I just stay at home. But the teacher calls and says, 'Where are you? Come out!' and just says what needs to be said and hangs up." She added, "Even while eating she doesn't have long talks. She just says, 'Eat well,' 'Eat and hold on,' 'Don't try to explain,' 'Your doing well is what helps,'" and said, "Thanks to those words I held on well. I think I could endure because such a person was by my side."
Netizens also reacted, "Why does 'eat and hold on' make me so choked up?", "When you're really struggling what you need seems to be someone beside you rather than a solution", "Seonwoo Yong-nyeo seems like a really admirable elder."
