Actor Mun Ka-young is expected to meet audiences with director Min Yong-geun's new film "Two Pieces."
According to OSEN reporting on the 26th, Mun Ka-young was offered the new film "Two Pieces." Accordingly, she is expected to lead the work as the lead.
"Two Pieces" is the new work by director Min Yong-geun, who drew attention with "Hyehwa, Dong" in 2011 and "Soulmate" in 2023. According to people involved in the film, it is a female-centered narrative focusing on two women that deals with a dramatic story racing toward catastrophe.
Director Min Yong-geun's new work, presented three years after "Soulmate," has also raised expectations among film fans. In this context, Mun Ka-young will take on one of the lead roles and carry the story.
In particular, "Two Pieces" was also selected this year for the production support program of the Korean Film Council (KOFIC). With a confirmed support amount of 1.6 billion won, it is said that confidence in the work's artistic quality has been solid since the planning and script stages.
Mun Ka-young received praise for her strong performance as the female lead Jung-won in the film "Once We Were Us," which opened late last year. "Once We Were Us" succeeded in drawing 2.6 million viewers, signaling the start of Korean film box office momentum this year with "Once We Were Us," "The King's Warden," and "Salmokji: Whispering Water." Riding that success, Mun Ka-young recently won the best actress award in the film category at the Baeksang Arts Awards, beating strong competitors, so expectations are high for her next film.
Mun Ka-young, who debuted as a child actor in the 2006 film "The Teacher's Grace," began to stand out after leaving a strong impression as "Red" among drama fans in SBS's 2016 drama "Jealousy Incarnate." Since then, she has expanded her filmography with dramas such as "Live Up to Your Name," "The Great Seducer," "Welcome to Waikiki 2," and "The Man's Memory," as well as films including "Island: The Island That Steals Time," "Cutter," and "Twenty Again."
In particular, Mun Ka-young rose to global stardom after the 2020 drama "True Beauty" achieved great success overseas. Since then, she has been praised for her steady acting in dramas including "The Interest of Love," "Delightfully Deceitful," "My Dearest Nemesis," and "Law and The City," as well as the film "Once We Were Us," solidifying her position as a top actress.
She has already confirmed a role in the new drama "Goraebyeol," based on the popular webtoon of the same name, quickly lining up her next project and continuing her activities. In addition, news circulated that she was "positively considering" a transfer to her new agency Fantagio. With "Two Pieces," she is expected to continue her nonstop trajectory into her next film, building an uncompromising filmography. <
