Broadcaster Pungja went backpacking from Udo in Jeju to Biyangdo and ended up forced to sleep outdoors after unexpectedly leaving behind equipment.
On the afternoon of the 25th, a video titled 'Camping at one of Korea's three major pilgrimage islands | island within an island within an island Jeju Biyangdo backpacking' was posted on the YouTube channel PungjaTV.
Pungja greeted viewers energetically, saying "Hello everyone, today I am at Biyangdo." Pungja, describing where she was standing, said, "This is an island within an island within an island. Jeju is an island, right? Then you come to an island called Udo within it, and from Udo you come to Biyangdo," unable to hide her excitement.
This trip was a bucket list item Pungja had dreamed of for a long time. Pungja said, "I said I wanted to try a lot of backpacking this year. There are three major pilgrimage sites in Korea. The three major backpacking pilgrimage sites. One of them is Biyangdo," adding, "When I was living in Jeju I really wanted to come to Biyangdo, so I picked today and came like this," heightening her anticipation.
But contrary to her ambitious plans, Pungja, who was setting up the tent on site, soon fell into a panic. She had left the most important mat at home. Looking at the camera, Pungja confessed, "Everyone, this is bad. I didn't bring the mat from home," attracting attention.
Realizing she had only packed two sleeping bags instead of a mat, Pungja was flustered but activated her characteristic positive thinking. Pungja tried to comfort herself, saying, "If this happens we'll really be sleeping outdoors, but since it's a lawn, wouldn't it be somewhat okay?"
But seeing the tent floor with only a thin mat laid down against the creeping cold, Pungja quipped, "Isn't this being homeless? I brought the mat but not the sleeping pad. It can't be helped. We'll just have to sleep," delivering the blunt truth in a way that had viewers in stitches.
