Park Jong-wook recalled his difficult past.
On the 25th, comedian Park Jong-wook, who performs as KimGura, appeared on KBS Joy Ask Us Anything Fortune Teller.
Park Jong-wook said, "I live as KimGura. How long do I have to live under someone else's name?" Park Jong-wook added, "I have a dilemma. I am a comedian, but content far from comedy has gotten good view counts. I want to be funny."
Park Jong-wook said, "My dream was to be a comedian, but what became clear was the hardship of my family environment." Lee Soo-keun said, "There were even rumors of him being from a chaebol in the comedy world. There are stories that he grew up in a wealthy family."
Park Jong-wook, who is from Yeosu, said, "There is a saying not to boast about money when you go to Yeosu. My parents' first business was a nightclub. It was at the biggest intersection. Organized crime was also involved and there was a murder. They sent minors from the neighboring shop and were ordered to suspend operations. They were stressed and changed the business to a live bar."
Park Jong-wook said, "A popular entertainer of that era came and hosted. It was going well but then a gas explosion happened (and it failed). The period of living as wealthy lasted at most two years. It was elementary school, so I hardly remember. My father drank, broke things, and my parents fought every day. They went completely bankrupt. There were seizure tags and a midnight escape. I hated poverty so much. I thought that to rebuild our home I couldn't do it as a salaried worker. I decided I had to become a star," he said, recounting his bleak past.
