Singer and actor Lee Jun's confession on You Quiz on the Block about the severe financial hardship he endured while a student has already drawn support after being previewed.
On the 24th, the tvN variety show You Quiz on the Block posted a video titled "High school student Lee Jun who secretly lived in the school's practice room to avoid cockroaches" on its official YouTube channel. The released video contained footage of Lee Jun appearing as a guest on You Quiz.
In the video, You Quiz host Yu Jae-seok asked Lee Jun, "Did you practically live in the school's practice room during high school?" and questioned him about his school days. Lee Jun was actually a promising dance talent who graduated from Seoul Arts High School's dance department and entered Korea National University of Arts. The question concerned the harsh amount of practice at the time.
But Lee Jun's reality was closer to financial hardship. Lee Jun recalled, "There was a long cabinet that a person could fit into. I would stay in there, and when the security guard finished his patrol and left, that's when I would come out. When I came out, all the lights were off and it was really scary. I practiced dancing there and slept there."
When Yu Jae-seok asked, "Was there a reason you had to live like that?", Lee Jun revealed, "My family was in such a difficult situation then that I did that. There were so many cockroaches at home. I still haven't broken the habit from then: on 2 Days & 1 Night, when I go to sleep I still pick up the pillow. Back then, whenever I lifted the pillow at home there were always four cockroaches. When I went to brush my teeth in the bathroom, sometimes there would even be a cockroach on the toothbrush bristles," shocking viewers.
Lee Jun said, "The house I lived in then still exists. Sometimes when I go there I feel like I've gone back to that time. Then when I return to the house I live in now, it feels so strange because the current house is nice. From my point of view, I don't think I've improved since then, so I wonder if I deserve to enjoy and receive so many things like this."
