Q. You released the digital single 'Like today' about seven months after your last release. How do you feel?
A. I am happy to release "Like today" in the year of my 10th anniversary because I have long thought about delivering a serenade through ballads.
Q. Please give a brief introduction to "Like today" and share the listening points.
A. It is a song that confesses gratitude because the familiar scenes of ordinary daily life suddenly become painfully precious. When listening to the song, I hope you think of someone dear to you.
Q. You participated directly in the lyrics and composition, showcasing Jung Seung-hwan's unique musical color. What did you focus on most during the song's production?
A. Although it is a ballad, I started with the keyword "serenade," so I very much hoped it would be moving without sounding sad. So I tried to brighten the music's saturation as much as I could within what was possible.
Q. In continuation of the previous question, what was the point you worried about most while writing the song or what new attempts did you make?
A. I think I worried most about the lyrics. I remember thinking for a long time and writing carefully because I wanted sincere love to be fully contained even if I plainly listed banal words without embellishing or dressing them up.
Q. Following your previous full-length album "Called love," this new song also sings about love. How is Jung Seung-hwan's idea of love reflected in this song?
A. If the previous full-length album focused on "past love," this new song is entirely focused on "the love of now." I tried to look squarely at the preciousness of this moment, which is easy to pass by, without exaggerating it, and to convey the intention to love fully now, as if it were the last.
Q. Do you have any musical goals you want to show this year?
A. My wish is the same every year: I want to continue delivering music that can be loved for a long time.
