"Seoul National University NewJeans Min-ji"-nicknamed KBS announcer Park Hyo-jin emerged on 'Sadanggwi' as a promising candidate to become the broadcaster's next-generation marquee.
On the 24th, KBS 2TV variety show 'The boss's ears are donkey ears' (abbreviated Sadanggwi) portrayed the daily life of KBS announcer Eom Ji-in.
That day Eom Ji-in visited the KBS Changwon bureau. He visited to cheer on new announcer Park Hyo-jin, who is doing regional rotational work at the same place where he once served during his regional rotation at the KBS Changwon bureau.
Park Hyo-jin, who joined this year as a new KBS announcer, is a talent from Seoul National University and drew attention for her resemblance to NewJeans member Min-ji. She even earned the nickname "Seoul National University Min-ji."
True to her pedigree from one of the country's top universities, announcer Park Hyo-jin carried out her announcer duties diligently like a model student. She kept a neat appearance even for lighter commutes and greeted brightly, saying "I try to come neatly with an announcer's mindset." Even Eom Ji-in was surprised, saying "She seems like the epitome of an announcer."
Her workspace was also neatly organized. The company-issued work diary was filled from review meetings to makeup with various pieces of advice and error notes. In particular, the makeup error notes included brief drawings pointing out areas to improve, and announcer Park Hyo-jin said, "Since I have to do my makeup by myself, I wanted to record things like symmetry to make adjustments."
In response, Eom Ji-in chimed in, "So you know your face isn't symmetrical, too?" which drew rebukes from the Sadanggwi hosts. Former announcer-turned-broadcaster Jun Hyun-moo criticized Eom Ji-in, saying, "What are you talking about symmetry of someone's face to a new announcer?" and Kim Sook defended Park Hyo-jin, saying, "I think announcer Park Hyo-jin is really going to become a KBS marquee."
The KBS Changwon bureau announcers who work with her also praised Park Hyo-jin. They lauded her, saying, "She seems like a baby now, like a newcomer, but she's different in the studio. When the camera light comes on her eyes change. Our main news runs for a 40-minute block, and she's anchoring it solo as the primary anchor."
In practice she was meticulous and kept a consistent daily routine. In the waiting room she completed her look neatly with makeup and hair prepared to match the outfit she had set out the day before. She surprised people further by revealing a slender frame that required reducing a size 55 outfit down to size 33.
Of course she was not perfect. At the last review meeting Eom Ji-in repeatedly criticized her for answering PD calls aloud and kept reminding her during rehearsals. Eom Ji-in emphasized that "if it becomes a habit it can lead to an on-air accident," urging her to respond with hand signals even during rehearsals.
