Pungja, a broadcaster who showcased an ambitious backpacking trip and stormy mukbang on Bijangdo in Jeju, paid a painful price for sleeping directly on the bare ground without a mat.
On the afternoon of the 25th, a video titled Camping on one of South Korea's three pilgrimage islands | island within an island within an island Jeju Bijangdo backpacking was posted on the YouTube channel PungjaTV.
Pungja went to Bijangdo, one of the three major backpacking pilgrimage sites, but committed the critical mistake of leaving the essential mat at home. With only a thin straw mat laid on the tent floor, she lamented her fate, saying "isn't this what a homeless person does?"
The next morning, Pungja told the camera, "I slept without a mat yesterday. I thought I was going to die. My whole body hurts. Surely this kind of thing also plays a role in making sleep cushy, but it also blocks the cold from below," expressing her pain. It was the aftereffect of enduring Jeju's harsh nighttime ground chill with no gear at all.
Having actually spent the night in a frigid environment, Pungja, who seemed to have slept poorly, complained of her hardship with hollow eyes. Pungja said, "It was too cold. The cold kept rising from below. It was hard."
The pain from the bare ground was far harsher than she had expected. Pungja continued, "Staying in one position for a long time made my bones hurt. It was very uncomfortable," she said, voicing her distress.
