Comedian Cho Hye-lyeon expressed her affectionate feelings toward her son, Woo-ju.
On the 23rd, MBN's Sokpuri Show Dongchimi featured Cho Hye-lyeon as a guest who shared stories.
That day Cho Hye-lyeon took the top spot with the topic "my son's wandering ended after 18 years" in "these days I tried this much to become a mother."
She said "My son Woo-ju's nickname was 'stop it Woo-ju.' He always quit whatever he did. When he was young he was on a show called 'Bungeoppang,' and after that he quit everything he tried," she said. Woo-ju tried soccer and drums but couldn't stick with them for long.
Especially, Cho Hye-lyeon said "my son was bullied in middle school because he was Cho Hye-lyeon's son," and revealed the reason her son quit school and went to the Philippines for language training. When he returned to Korea he was 18, but his educational level at the time was equivalent to an elementary school graduate.
Cho Hye-lyeon said her son Woo-ju found his aptitude in gaming and passed the middle and high school equivalency exams at 19, and later enrolled in university. She said "When Woo-ju was about to graduate he applied for jobs, but once AI came out no one did games anymore," she lamented.
She added, "Each grade produces 250 people, and truly not one got a job. Woo-ju applied to 40 places and was rejected by all. He was terribly discouraged."
She said Woo-ju has gone to Sydney on a working holiday and "on the day he left I cut off mom's card. I gave him exactly one month's living expenses and told him to try on his own. Now he calls every day asking for 200,000 to 300,000 won. I don't know how much I spent in the past. Once I cut it off, he's been living diligently in Sydney for a month."
Meanwhile, Cho Hye-lyeon married her ex-husband in 1998 and had one son and one daughter. After divorcing 14 years into the marriage, Cho Hye-lyeon remarried in 2014 to a businessman two years her junior.
