Hollywood actress Anne Hathaway addressed rumors that she had a facelift (rhytidectomy).
On the 22nd (local time), U.S. outlet Entertainment Weekly reported that Hathaway spoke about allegations that she had undergone a rhytidectomy during a recent interview with fashion magazine Elle.
Hathaway recently posted on her social media a video that drew attention by revealing a hairstylist's trick of lifting the face by pulling two small braided sections of hair near each temple.
She said, when asked if the video was meant to refute recent rhytidectomy rumors, I wouldn't say it was blatant. But we live in an era when people are very confident in assuming that what they think is true, and sometimes their assumptions are accurate and sometimes they are not.
She added, I tend not to comment on things and prefer to live in mystery and not draw attention to myself, but the speculation became so rampant that I felt the need to let the truth be known to the world.
Hathaway said, "'Should I have posted that or not? Should I have just kept doing what I do that makes me happy and makes me feel more confident on the red carpet?' I always wondered. But I felt those stories were distracting attention."
She pointed out that the various online guesses about whether she had cosmetic surgery are huge medical decisions people are jumping to conclude, and said posting the video was her way of showing that her appearance was not the result of a scalpel but "just two braids."
However, she also said, Someday I might actually get a rhytidectomy.
Recently, online communities and fans speculated that Hathaway's appearance during filming of Devil Wears Prada 2 and at red carpet events looked as if she had returned to her 20s, suggesting she may have had tweakments, including a facelift. Hathaway had not responded to the rumors, but she ultimately addressed them after the speculation grew rampant.
