Former mixed martial arts fighter-turned-broadcaster Kim Dong-hyun revealed his fourth child.
On the 22nd, a video titled Finally revealing it! Kim Dong-hyun's fourth: son? daughter? was uploaded to the Donghyuniet channel.
That day Kim Dong-hyun asked the i-dle, "How many younger siblings are there?" and his eldest son, Danwoo, said, "Including me, four," and delivered a blunt line that made people laugh: "Dad had surgery so no more babies can come out. If only one comes out, that's it." He was referring to Kim Dong-hyun's vasectomy.
Later Kim Dong-hyun announced the fourth pregnancy, saying, "We have another youngest sibling. The fourth is here," and revealed, "A boy. It's a son. Son, daughter, daughter, son."
When Kim Dong-hyun's wife was asked, "Did you plan for a fourth?" she explained, "Originally, we like children and wanted to have many, so we thought, 'Shall we try one last time?' so we planned and prepared for a fourth, but it didn't go well. I thought maybe it wouldn't work so I should give up, and then exactly at that time we became pregnant with the fourth."
In response, Kim Dong-hyun said, "My wife had actually been saying 'one more' continuously before that. So I was like, 'Why one more?' To be honest, I'm an athlete. She kept saying, 'I wish we had a son like oppa who is an athlete.' I said, 'Athletes have it so hard.' I was really lucky that it turned out that way; of course if she really liked it I would make it happen."
Then his wife expressed the wish, "Not a son like an athlete but a son like my husband. He can do sports or not, but I hope a son like my husband."
Kim Dong-hyun said, "My wife, Danwoo and I are a trio. Danwoo is gentle and so pretty that we had two children, and the second is also so gentle that we thought a third would be fine. But the third is a bit difficult. If Yeonseo had been the first, I wonder if we would have had two because she was different. So we hesitated about having a fourth, but somehow a fourth son came along," and added, "Please ask if thinking about a fourth was because I was a big help and she felt less burdened," expressing his hope.
To that, his wife candidly said, "Dad really makes an impact by giving me one day to rest. It's hard for me alone with three. Dad is busy every day, so what I liked was that he created one day just for me at once. That is really significant."
Kim Dong-hyun expressed confidence, saying, "I tell my wife to rest, let her sleep alone while I sleep with the kids. We did that yesterday too. There are things like that. He also plans to pass on childcare tips through YouTube. Kim Dong-hyun said, "Raising three children gives you a lot of know-how. It's not easy of course, but I still handle childcare relatively smoothly. I don't just do childcare; I really study a lot. Theory and practice differ, but even that becomes learning. My algorithm only shows childcare. I watch childcare all the time. If you see those parts, you'll be surprised."
Meanwhile, Kim Dong-hyun married a woman six years his junior in June 2018 and has one son and two daughters, and recently announced the fourth pregnancy. The fourth son is reportedly due to be born in October this year.
