VV showcased candid wit as she revealed the unique backstory of her new song "Bumpa" and a generous pledge.
On the 22nd broadcast of KBS2 Sung Si Kyung's Gomak Boyfriend, VV, who appeared on the show, personally introduced her recently released new song "Bumpa."
VV said, "'Bumpa' means 'butt' in Jamaican," laughing, then explained, "Just the title can be misleading, but the song is completely wholesome," which drew laughter.
She went on to share a unique behind-the-scenes story about the song-making process. When Sung Si Kyung asked, "Do you even speak Jamaican?" VV said, "I'm learning Spanish these days," and said, "At first I wrote in Spanish, then English, then Korean, and I got hooked on the word 'bumpa.' So as a result, the song ended up containing four languages."
In particular, VV directly explained the emotions contained in the new song's lyrics. She introduced it as meaning "like the sea breeze making the waves dance, you make me move," conveying the song's atmosphere. She also continued talking about world tour plans. VV said, "We plan to visit a total of 17 cities, including Oceania and North America," and added, "On the next tour I definitely want to visit South America." She said, "I really want to go to Brazil. I heard K-pop interest is huge there," but immediately added, "But will someone buy me a ticket…," showing realistic worries and eliciting laughter. In response, Sung Si Kyung said, "If you go to Brazil, the new song will probably go crazy," and offered his support.
Above all, what drew attention was the shocking success pledge. VV declared, "If this song enters the top 10 on the music charts, I will give each team member a 5,000,000 won gift certificate." She then did the math, saying, "There are four people besides me. The assets I have to be responsible for are 20,000,000 won," which provoked uproarious laughter.
There is growing interest in whether VV's bold pledge, as bold as the new song, can actually be fulfilled.
