'Noona, you're a woman to me' returns with a new season that explodes with dopamine.
On the 22nd morning, during an online live broadcast, the KBS2 "Noona, you're a woman to me" season 2 production presentation was held, with Han Hye-jin, Jang Wooyoung, DinDin and director Park Jin-woo attending and discussing the program.
"Noona, you're a woman to me 2" is a deep & hot age-gap real romance between noonas who have not yet found love because they spent intense time on their careers, and younger men who believe that age is just a number when it comes to love.
Last year's broadcast of "Noona, you're a woman to me" season 1 proved its massive buzz by delivering a "decade shock" with love lines where the age gap between the noonas and younger men expanded up to 12 years.
Director Park Jin-woo said, "Season 2 is a season where we discarded what to discard and kept what to keep. If season 1 made people aware of what kind of program we are, in season 2 we tried to provide straightforward fun and immersion. Compared to season 1, this season is more stimulating and has added dopamine. For a dating show, the participants are most important, so we tried to cast friends whose characters are proactive and whose emotional expressions are direct."
Han Hye-jin also spoke about the distinctions of season 2, saying, "Watching it, I wondered whether the noona or the younger man would be the main character, but to be honest, in this season 2 the younger men are definitely the main characters. If the younger men in season 1 had a soft and delicate feel, though I've only seen the early part of this season, the younger men this time certainly have different charms. They feel like dormant volcanoes that could erupt at any time."
This season, the "dating show master" Han Hye-jin and "dating show maniac" Jang Wooyoung, who closely watched the noona & younger man romances in season 1, return for season 2, and DinDin, who became the protagonist of a new "meme" called "Nemo-righting (Nemo + gaslighting)" after saying he was hit to the song "Nemo's dream" by his older sisters in childhood, joins as a new MC.
Director Park explained the reasons for casting the MCs: "Ms. Han Hye-jin is also a successful noona in real life. From a younger man's perspective, she is someone they'd want to meet and, in a way, someone they'd want to rely on, so we thought she could represent our program. Mr. Jang Wooyoung has a great affection for our program. We felt his wit was warming up from the middle of season 1, so we cast him to carry that energy into this season."
He added, "DinDin's unadorned and direct speaking style was impressive. I thought he could bring a different color to our program. I heard he is good at flirting and can win over many women, so we needed that perspective and analysis, a younger brother's viewpoint who matches the noona and is seasoned."
Newly joined DinDin said, "When I was young I preferred older women. I came because I wanted to revisit those memories, and it felt like going back 10 years; memories came back. It was fun to talk a lot about my experiences. Definitely, the dopamine went up. The development is so fast. Dopamine bursts like shorts. I liked that a lot."
The MCs especially cited sincerity as the program's strength. DinDin said, "In other programs, some people really come to find love, but others seem to have different purposes, so I couldn't immerse myself. What I liked about our program at a glance was that sincerity was visible. I thought they would be sincere and go all in, and the pace is fast, so I feel there are elements that allow me to immerse myself. That alone gives me great satisfaction with this program."
Director Park said the competition was strong for recruiting younger men this season, adding, "The first criterion was people who genuinely want to create a connection through this program — we selected those who intended to participate sincerely rather than those with other purposes. Their occupations are diverse, so we tried to create combinations that are hard to encounter in real life. We also looked sufficiently at looks and charm, so there is no need to worry."
Jang Wooyoung also said, "I realized you can succeed just by having the face while staying still. I was so envious and it felt like a weapon. It's so interesting and charming, and there are moments where you think, 'Can this happen?' There were skills like adjustment and appropriate distancing that I learned by watching myself, and those were present."
Finally, Director Park raised expectations about this season's trump card, saying, "There's a saying, 'If it's cute, that's enough.' I think our program might be the only one where a group of cute younger men appear and, without a script, you can see them confessing desperately with teary eyes in real reality."
