Pop star Britney Spears (44)'s arrest for driving under the influence (DUI) included shocking behind-the-scenes details in a police report that were abruptly released. It contained admissions of taking multiple psychiatric medications and even an absurd boast about her drinking capacity, saying "I could drink four bottles of wine," sparking controversy.
According to Page Six's report on the 21st (local time), the detailed police arrest report for Britney Spears, who was arrested for reckless driving on March 4, was obtained.
According to the report, officers on the scene asked Spears whether she had taken any drugs or medications before driving, and Spears shocked them by directly listing that she was taking Lamictal 200 mg, a mood stabilizer for bipolar disorder, Prozac 40 mg, an antidepressant, and Adderall 2.5 mg, an ADHD treatment. Police also found an additional bottle of Adderall pills in someone else's name in Spears' bag, and an empty wine glass was found in the cup holder between the driver and passenger seats.
When asked about drinking, Spears said she "only had one mimosa around 2 p.m." and claimed her level of intoxication was 0 out of 10. She even boasted to the officers about her drinking, telling them, "I could drink four bottles of wine and still take care of you. I am an angel," an absurd show of bravado.
Police recorded that Spears showed extreme mood swings at the scene. The report described her odd behavior at the time, saying, "She shifted from hostile and agitated to exaggeratedly submissive," and "she sometimes spoke with a British accent during the conversation." Officers also noted a strong smell of alcohol on her breath, her eyes were bloodshot, and her gait was very unsteady.
Earlier, Page Six exclusively obtained a 911 call recording in which eyewitnesses on the road urgently reported, "A black BMW was weaving across lanes and slamming on the brakes recklessly, nearly colliding with other vehicles."
Meanwhile, Spears voluntarily entered a rehab facility on April 12 following the incident for treatment of drug and alcohol misuse, but she left in less than a month. At the time, associates told the media, "Spears is very healthy and happy and is preparing a fresh start with a positive mindset," but with the newly released detailed account of the arrest, global fans' concern and criticism have resurfaced.
